Pataar bhela bhashayi-Nire 
Pichhon paane chaayi nee phire 

Karmo aamar bojhai phela khela aamar cholaar khela 
Hoyini aamar ashon mela, ghor bandhini sroter teere 

Baandhon jokhon baandhte ashe 
Bhaggyo aamar tokhon haashe 

Dhula ore hawar daake poth je tene loye amake 
Nutan nutan baanke baanke gaan diye jaayi dharitrire

পাতার ভেলা ভাসাই নীরে, 
পিছন-পানে চাই নে ফিরে ॥ 

কর্ম আমার বোঝাই ফেলা, খেলা আমার চলার খেলা। 
হয় নি আমার আসন মেলা, ঘর বাঁধি নি স্রোতের তীরে ॥ 

বাঁধন যখন বাঁধতে আসে 
ভাগ্য আমার তখন হাসে। 

ধুলা-ওড়া হাওয়ার ডাকে পথ যে টেনে লয় আমাকে 
নতুন নতুন বাঁকে বাঁকে গান দিয়ে যাই ধরিত্রীরে 

Translation. 

A leaf-boat I float. 
To look back I care not. 

Daily chores fill my frame, to move on is my game. 
Couldn't ever spread my mattress, or build a home on the coast. 

When anchor tries to chain, 
My destiny smiles mundane. 

Dust flies as storm beckons, beckons me the life's lane. 
In every new-strange twists and turns, to the world I offer my note.
