Rula kar chal diye ik din hansi ban kar jo aaye the 

Chaman ro-ro ke kehta hai, kabhi gul muskuraaye the 

Agar dil ki zubaan hoti to gam kuch kam to ho jaata 

Udhar wo chup, idhar seene mein ham toofaan chhupaaye the 

Ye achcha tha na ham kehte kisi se daastaan apni 

Samajh paaye na jab apne, paraaye to paraaye the

रुला कर चल दिये इक दिन हँसी बन कर जो आये थे 

चमन रो-रो के कहता है कभी गुल मुस्कुराये थे 

अगर दिल के ज़ुबां होती तो ग़म कुछ कम तो हो जाता 

उधर वो चुप इधर सीने में हम तूफ़ां छुपाये थे 

ये अच्छा था न हम कहते किसी से दास्तां अपनी 

समझ पाये न जब अपने पराये तो पराये थे

Translation

Left me crying, once those who came in my life as a smile 

Garden weeps and wails, here milieus once did smile 

If heart had a tongue, this grief could subside a little 

There she is silent, and here I am hiding a typhoon in heart all the while

It would have been good if I never told my tales

When near one's couldn't fathom, are strangers worthwhile.
