Se din Chaitra Maash-Lyrics & Translation

Se Din Chaitra Maash

Lyrics

PraharSesher aaloye ranga sedin Chaitra maash
Tomar chokhe dekhechhilaam aamar sorbonaash.

E songsaarer nitya khelaye protidiner praner melaye
Baate ghaate hajaar loker hasya-parihaash
Majhkhane taar tomar chokhe aamar sorbonaash.

Aamer bone dola laage, mukul pore jhore,
Chirokaaler chena gondho hawaye othhe bhore

Manjaritto shakhaye shakhaye, moumachhider pakhaye pakhaye
Khone khone basantadin felechhe nishwaash.
Majhkhane taar tomar chokhe aamar sorbonaash.

Translation

Tinged with the colors of summer twilight.
I saw my doom in your sight.

In daily chores of people, in daily interplay.
In jests and jokes of millions on life's flight.
In midst of all, I saw my doom in your sight.

Mango grooves waver, mango buds wither.
Known forever aroma of mango fills the air.

In new shoots and twigs, in wings of bees.
Every moment when springtime exhales rite.
In midst of all, I saw my doom in your sight.

This is by Tagore. A witty poem. An unmarried boy sees an unmarried girl in Chaitra month who are about to be married in the following month i.e. Baishakh.
The boy says,"when spring is on the bloom, in your eyes I see my doom. "
