Chaina Mago Raja-Lyrics & Translation

Lyrics

Chaina maa go raja hote
Raja hobar sadh naai maa go
Dubela jeno paai maa khete||
Chaina maa go raja hote|

Maa, aamar matir ghore bansher khuti
Paai jeno taai khar jogate
Aamar matir ghor je sonar ghor maa
O maa ki hobe dalaanete
Jodi dalaan kothhai rakho maa go
Paarbo na aar maa bolite ||
Chaina maa go raja hote |

Jodi dwarete athiti aashe maa
Nah hoi jeno mukh lukate |
Ghore kaanshaar thala kaanshaar baati maa
Paai jeno taai duto khete |
Tor sangsaar dharmo boro dharmo maa
Taai pari na chhere jete|
Kebol ramprosader ei basona maa go
Paai jeno thhai oi pode te||
Chaina maa go raja hote

Translation

Do not wish to become an emperor.
To be an emperor I have no desire, O' mother.
Just two meals per day may I savor, O' mother.
Do not wish to become an emperor.

O'mother, my house is of mud and is on bamboo pillar.
May I just be able to dress its ceiling with straw every year.
My mud-house is actually golden house O'mother.
O'mother, what is the use of huge corridor.
If you keep me in alcazar,
I shall not be able to chant mother.
Do not wish to become an emperor.

If at my door arrives any visitor,
May I not hide my face with discomfiture.
All I have in my house is utensils of cheap metals, O' mother.
My meals in them I just wish to savor.
The duty towards society of all duties is greater.
So I can't seek renunciation, O, dear mother.
The poet Ramprasad has only a small desire.
To find shelter under your feet, O' mother.
Do not wish to become an emperor.
