ওগো ঘুম-ভাঙানিয়া
বুকে চমক দিয়ে তাই তো ডাক'

এল আঁধার ঘিরে, পাখি এল নীড়ে,
তরী এল তীরে
শুধু আমার হিয়া বিরাম পায় নাকো
ওগো দুখজাগানিয়া ॥
আমার কাজের মাঝে মাঝে
কান্নাধারার দোলা তুমি থামতে দিলে না যে।
আমার পরশ ক'রে প্রাণ সুধায় ভ'রে
তুমি যাও যে সরে
বুঝি আমার ব্যথার আড়ালেতে দাঁড়িয়ে থাক
ওগো দুখজাগানিয়া ॥
Translation
You wished me to sing so you keep me spryly;
O' my sleep-breaker.
So you startle my heart as you call lustily;
O' my sorrow-starter.
As dusk descends, birds return to their nest,
Boats arrive at shores,
Yet my heart knows no rest;
O' my sorrow-starter.
In between my daily chores,
You didn't stop swaying my swing of tears and laughter.
Your touch me, fill me with life-vigor,
And then you disappear.
As if in my pain you remain obscure,
O' my sorrow-starter.
