Keno kotha kohilo na, choliya gelo dhire
Nikunje dakhinabaay korichhe haay haay,
Lata pata dule dule dakichhe phire phire
Dujoner ankhibarigopane gelo boye ,
Dujoner praner kotha pranete gelo roye
Aar to holo na dekha jagate dohe eka
Chirodin chharachhari jamunateere

দুজনে দেখা হল মধুযামিনী রে;
কেন কথা কহিল না, চলিয়া গেল ধীরে॥
নিকুঞ্জে দখিনাবায় করিছে হায়-হায়,
লতাপাতা দুলে দুলে ডাকিছে ফিরে ফিরে॥
দুজনের আঁখিবারি গোপনে গেল বয়ে,
দুজনের প্রাণের কথা প্রাণেতে গেল রয়ে।
আর তো হল না দেখা, জগতে দোঁহে একা
চিরদিন ছাড়াছাড়ি যমুনাতীরে॥
Translation
Though the duo met in night, showering honey;
Why they didn't talk and parted away slowly.
Moaned the southern breeze of shadowy trees -
Vines-the leaves called them back, swaying gently.
Undropped tears of both remained within.
Untold tales of both too remained within.
The duo did meet never, alone they stayed forever.
Separation forever on banks of a waterway.
