Kabhi Neki Bhi Uske - Lyrics & Translation_Ghazal_Ghalib

Lyrics.

Kabhi neki bhi uske jee mein gar aa jaaye hai mujh se
Jafaayen kar ke apni yaad sharmaa jaaye hai mujh se

Khudayaa, jazba-e-dil ki magar taaseer ulti hai
Ke jitna khinchtaa hun aur khinchtaa jaaye hai mujh se

Wo bad-khu aur meri dastaan-e-ishq tulaani
Ibaarat mukhtasar, qaasid bhi ghabraa jaaye hai mujh se

Udhar wo bad-gumaani hai, idhar ye naatuvani hai

Takalluf bar-taraf nazzargi main bhi sahi lekin
Wo dekha jaaye kab ye zulm dekhaa jaaye hai mujh se

Hue hain paanv hi pahle nabard-e-ishq mein zakhmi

Qayaamat hai ki hove muddai kaa ham-safar Ghalib

Translation

Even if anytime kindness comes to her mind for me.
She'd remember her tortures and shy away from me.

O' God, the aftermath of passion, of the heart is antagonistic.
The more I pull, the more it gets pulled away from me.

She's ill-tempered-impatient and my love-story is too lengthy.
Explaining briefly, even the messenger turns impatient to hear from me.

There lies dubiety, here lies inability.
Neither she could ask nor speech can be delivered from me.

O' allow me to hold on for what disaster is despair!
That the raiment of love of my beloved is slipping away from me.

Frankly speaking, I am also a mere spectator (of her beauty)
She wishes to see, how could I see her seeing away from me.

The feet are already wounded in the battle of love.
I cannot run away and the power to stand still am gone from me.

What a disaster that the enemy becomes the co-traveler.
An infidel who cannot be tendered even to god as offerings from me.
