Hiya aamar pete rekhe sarati poth dilem dheke
Aamar byathay poruk taahar charonkhaani
সে যে বাহির হল আমি জানি,
বক্ষে আমার বাজে তাহার বাণী ॥
কোথায় কবে এসেছে সে সাগরতীরে, বনের শেষে,
আকাশ করে সেই কথারই কানাকানি ॥
হায় রে, আমি ঘর বেঁধেছি এতই দূরে,
না জানি তার আসতে হবে কত ঘুরে ।
হিয়া আমার পেতে রেখে সারাটি পথ দিলেম ঢেকে,
আমার ব্যথায় পড়ুক তাহার চরণখানি ॥
Translation.
I know he is coming.
His voice in my heart is streaming.
When did he come in woodlands, on seashore-
Those tales the skies are whispering.
Alas, I built my home quite far away.
Know not how long path he'll have to take.
I cover the path with my heart that I lay.
(I wish) On my pain shall he be treading.
