আমার প্রাণের গানের ভাষা
শিখবে তারা ছিল আশা--
উড়ে গেল, সকল কথা কইল না--
সেই-যে আমার নানা রঙের দিনগুলি॥
স্বপন দেখি, যেন তারা কার আশে
ফেরে আমার ভাঙা খাঁচার চার পাশে--
সেই-যে আমার নানা রঙের দিনগুলি।
এত বেদন হয় কি ফাঁকি।
ওরা কি সব ছায়ার পাখি।
আকাশ-পারে কিছুই কি গো বইল না--
সেই-যে আমার নানা রঙের দিনগুলি॥
Translation
My days in golden cage could prosper no more
Those days of mine of such hue and color.
The bonds of smiles and cries it could endure no more.
Those days of mine of many a hue and color.
The life-song of my soul's center-
Learn they would, was my desire.
They flew away; not a word did they utter.
Those days of mine of many a hue and color.
Dream I would, as if they for some unknown desire-
Around my broken cage would they wander.

All these pains, did turn futile, they are?
Mere flights of fancies, they are?
