সে যে বাহির হল আমি জানি,
বক্ষে আমার বাজে তাহার বাণী ॥
কোথায় কবে এসেছে সে সাগরতীরে, বনের শেষে,
আকাশ করে সেই কথারই কানাকানি ॥
হায় রে, আমি ঘর বেঁধেছি এতই দূরে,
না জানি তার আসতে হবে কত ঘুরে ।
হিয়া আমার পেতে রেখে সারাটি পথ দিলেম ঢেকে,
আমার ব্যথায় পড়ুক তাহার চরণখানি ॥
Translation
I know that he did start.
His voice I hear in my heart.
When and where he went, on seashore where woods end.
All such news, the skies buzzed.
Alas, I’ve set up home so far away.
How long a path takes he may?
All over his trail, my heart-let me splay.
On my pain, let his footsteps hurt.
