লতা যেমন ফুল শাখাকে ভালোবেসে জড়িয়ে থাকে,
আমার হয়ে তেমনি কেনো থাকলে না.
সাগর দেখার ইচ্ছে নিয়ে, তোমার নদী উতল হলো,
হায় রে তবু যদি বৃষ্টি পেতো, ফল্গু হয়ে বয়ে যেতো,
আমায় কেনো তোমার কাছে রাখলে না.
চাপা কলি যেমন ডাকে, চৈইতি রাতের ওই হাওয়া কে,
আমায় কেনো একটি বার ও ডাকলে না.
রাতের আঁধার ঘিরল তোমার, সঙ্গী হারা আকাশ টাকে,
লক্ষ তারা যতই জলুক, দুঃখ তবু তার কী ঢাকে,
চাঁদ কে যদি পেত বুকে, তবেই সে রাত জাগত সুখে,
কেনো আমার সোহাগ রেণু মাখলে না,
ঝিনুক যেমন মুক্ত টাকে, বুকে করে ধরে রাখে,
